About the School
Are you ready to take total ownership of an incredible primary school site and keep a thriving educational environment running seamlessly? We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised, and proactive Premises Manager to join our welcoming co-educational primary school in Oxfordshire.
At our school, we believe that an exceptional physical environment is the foundation of a brilliant early education. The successful candidate will play a cornerstone role in ensuring our buildings, expansive grounds, and child-friendly facilities are maintained to an immaculate standard, fully compliant, and completely safe for our children to learn, grow, and thrive.
The Role
As our Premises Manager, you will be the driving force behind the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of our entire school site. Partnering closely with the Headteacher and wider primary school team, you will ensure our premises are safe, functional, and deeply welcoming for our young pupils, staff, and families alike.
Your responsibilities will include:
Directing the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and future-proofing of our primary school buildings, outdoor play areas, and facilities.
Conducting rigorous site inspections to spot potential maintenance, compliance, or health and safety issues before they impact the children.
Overseeing external contractors and suppliers, guaranteeing all project work is completed safely, efficiently, and to an exceptionally high standard outside of teaching hours.
Championing statutory compliance, fire safety, risk assessments, and robust health and safety frameworks suited for a primary setting.
Managing comprehensive site security, overseeing complex access protocols, and handling school opening and closing procedures.
Proactively monitoring and maintaining critical heating, lighting, plumbing, and mechanical services.
Keeping meticulous, audit-ready records for all premises checks, statutory servicing, and reactive repairs.
Managing the premises budget wisely, sourcing competitive quotes, and driving cost-effective facilities improvements.
Keeping our outdoor spaces, playgrounds, and school grounds immaculate, engaging, and safe for play.
Responding with urgency and calm leadership to emergencies, unexpected faults, and critical maintenance issues.
Supporting vibrant school events, assemblies, and parent activities, including flexible working arrangements when required.
Collaborating seamlessly with teaching staff, school governors, contractors, and external stakeholders.
