The Role

Stepping into a senior leadership capacity among our technical team, you will take total ownership of technician services across biology, chemistry, and physics. You will partner shoulder-to-shoulder with our passionate teaching faculty to transform complex scientific concepts into thrilling, safe, and flawless hands-on learning experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Directing and coordinating daily technical support across all biology, chemistry, and physics laboratories.

• Mentoring, scheduling, and guiding our talented technical support team to deliver excellence.

• Spearheading health and safety compliance, championing rigorous COSHH adherence, dynamic risk assessments, and CLEAPSS standards.

• Expertly managing the preparation, trialling, and delivery of advanced chemicals, solutions, and specialist apparatus.

• Overseeing complex chemical and biological stock inventories, smart-budgeting, and managing major department procurement.

• Maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting high-tech laboratory instruments and equipment.

• Ensuring absolute compliance with chemical waste management, Hazcards, and safety data sheets.

• Acting as the go-to technical expert for teachers and students during complex investigations and demonstrations.

• Driving continuous improvement in laboratory organisation, safety protocols, and resource tracking.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Armed with a strong science-based qualification (Degree, NVQ Level 4+, or significant senior lab experience).

• Extensively experienced in a school science or advanced laboratory environment, with deep expertise in CLEAPSS and COSHH.

• A natural leader with a proven flair for managing people, workflows, and high-pressure situations.

• Meticulous, highly organised, and deeply practical with a sharp eye for detail and compliance.

• Passionate about education and genuinely excited to champion STEM in an all-girls academic setting.
