The Role
The successful candidate will join a thriving Design & Technology department and will:
Deliver engaging and challenging Design & Technology lessons across KS3, KS4 and, where appropriate, KS5.
Inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and product design.
Teach areas such as resistant materials, product design, graphics, CAD/CAM and workshop-based practical projects, according to experience.
Create an inclusive and engaging workshop environment that supports students of all abilities to achieve their potential.
Ensure students develop strong knowledge of workshop safety, risk assessment, tools, machinery and appropriate working practices.
Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, practical project planning and the continued success of the Design & Technology department.
Support extracurricular opportunities including design competitions, STEM activities, enterprise projects and enrichment opportunities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, creativity and student achievement.
There may also be opportunities to contribute to STEM initiatives, careers education, industry projects and cross-curricular activities across the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a teacher who:
Holds, or is working towards, QTS.
Has a degree or relevant qualification in Design & Technology, Product Design, Engineering, Resistant Materials, Construction, or a related subject.
Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Design & Technology and practical education.
Is confident teaching practical workshop-based lessons and promoting high standards of health and safety.
Can inspire students to develop their creativity, technical skills, confidence and problem-solving abilities.
Is committed to raising achievement and supporting students' aspirations, confidence and wellbeing.
Can build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents and external partners.
Brings enthusiasm, innovation and a proactive approach to school life.
