Role Overview
An inclusive and dedicated special school in Hillingdon is seeking a compassionate and creative SEN Teacher to join its specialist teaching staff. This full-time, permanent position involves planning and delivering a highly adapted, sensory-rich curriculum to pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN).
The position is ideal for an experienced SEN teacher or a passionate mainstream teacher looking to transition into a specialized SEN setting. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and experienced teaching assistants, you will lead a small class group, fostering an environment where every child's progress and independence are celebrated.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Curriculum & Lesson Planning: Design and deliver personalized, differentiated learning activities that align with pupils' individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and P-scales/custom assessment frameworks.
Classroom & Team Leadership: Lead and deploy a team of classroom SEN Teaching Assistants effectively to ensure targeted 1:1 and small-group support.
Communication & Regulation: Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies, visual schedules, PECS, and Makaton to promote pupil voice and emotional regulation.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, and parents to review EHCP targets and monitor holistic development.
Qualifications & Skills: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE, proven experience or strong interest in special educational needs, excellent classroom management, and a clear Enhanced DBS check.
