The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the school's extensive buildings, grounds and facilities, ensuring that pupils, staff and visitors enjoy a safe, secure and welcoming environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, maintenance operative or skilled tradesperson looking to work within a prestigious educational setting.
The Role
As School Caretaker, you will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, security checks, room setups and general facilities duties.
Key responsibilities will include:
Opening and securing school buildings in accordance with established procedures
Carrying out daily site inspections and reporting maintenance or health and safety concerns
Completing minor repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and general building maintenance
Setting up classrooms, halls, examination spaces and facilities for school events
Monitoring heating, lighting, water systems and other building services
Supporting statutory compliance checks, including fire safety and emergency lighting
Assisting with deliveries, contractors and external visitors
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance tasks and site checks
Responding promptly to urgent facilities and maintenance requests
Supporting the wider estates team with grounds and outdoor maintenance when required
