Role Overview
An expressive and forward-thinking secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an enthusiastic and fluent French Teacher to join its vibrant Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department. This full-time, permanent position involves delivering dynamic French lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities to teach A-Level French for suitably qualified candidates.
The role is well-suited to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners passionate about building linguistic confidence, cultural awareness, and communication skills. You will join a supportive, collaborative department equipped with digital language tools and dedicated language assistants.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality French lessons across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 where applicable), developing pupils' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Student Outcomes: Track pupil progress, conduct targeted speaking practice, and prepare students thoroughly for GCSE French examinations.
Cultural & Curriculum Enrichment: Contribute to departmental resources, promote French culture and francophone traditions, and assist in organizing extra-curricular language clubs or overseas trips.
Qualifications: Relevant degree in French or Modern Foreign Languages alongside QTS or PGCE.
Skills: Near-native or native fluency in French, excellent classroom management, and the ability to foster enthusiasm for language learning across all ability levels.
