Psychology Teacher — Outstanding Secondary School, Newham (East London)

Full time (part-time considered), permanent, starting December 2026, MPS1–UPS3 + TLR, ECTs and experienced teachers welcome.

About The Role

We're looking for a Psychology Teacher to join a high-achieving, Ofsted-Outstanding secondary school in Newham, East London.

You'll join a supportive Social Sciences team, delivering engaging lessons at Key Stage 5, and guiding students through research, theory, and the real-world application of psychology with rigour and curiosity. Whether you're an Early Career Teacher just starting out or an experienced practitioner ready for a new challenge, you'll find a supportive Senior Leadership Team, clear progression, and a calm, purposeful environment grounded in shared values.

The school is easily reached by public transport, offers on-site parking, and provides an excellent working environment including dedicated staff workspaces, a well-equipped gym, and a genuine, funded commitment to your professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver inspiring, well-structured Psychology lessons at KS5.

  • Bring the subject to life — from cognitive and social psychology to research methods and contemporary debates — in ways that challenge and engage every learner.

  • Develop students' analytical and evaluative skills to prepare them for exam success and further study.

  • Assess, track, and support student progress, using data to shape your teaching.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and the school community.

  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and safeguarding at all times.

Requirements

  • A degree in Psychology or a closely related field.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a PGCE.

  • The ability (or readiness) to teach Psychology at KS5.

  • Genuine passion, drive, and a commitment to helping young people succeed.
