The successful Sociology Teacher will teach students across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, helping them develop a detailed understanding of sociological concepts, theories and research.
You will deliver lessons covering areas of the curriculum such as education, families, crime and deviance, social stratification, research methods and wider social issues. You should be confident encouraging students to compare different perspectives and evaluate evidence rather than simply recalling information.
The school is looking for someone who can lead thoughtful classroom discussions while maintaining clear academic expectations. Students should be given regular opportunities to develop their written arguments and practise the evaluation skills required for examinations.
You will plan and deliver lessons for students with varying levels of confidence and ability. Assessment will be an important part of the role, and you will use student work and progress information to identify areas for development.
You will also contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum planning and the wider academic life of the school.

Sociology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Sociology degree or related degree
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Sociology
Ability to teach KS4 and KS5
GCSE/A-Level Sociology experience
Strong understanding of sociological theories and research
Excellent analytical and written communication skills
Strong classroom management
Ability to encourage discussion and debate
Good examination preparation skills

Salary
The salary for this Sociology Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
