Role Overview
An expressive and supportive secondary school in Northampton is seeking a passionate and talented Music Teacher to join its vibrant Creative Arts department. This full-time, permanent position involves delivering practical and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities to contribute to A-Level Music or Music Technology for suitably qualified candidates.
The post is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners eager to inspire a love for performance, composition, and music appreciation. Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Teaching: Deliver engaging, hands-on Music lessons covering performance, composition, listening, and appraising across KS3–KS4.
GCSE Success: Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE Music examinations and practical assessments, fostering both individual performance skills and music theory mastery.
Extracurricular & Productions: Lead school choirs, bands, and instrumental ensembles, and play an active role in coordinating annual musical productions and seasonal concerts.
Qualifications: Relevant degree in Music, Music Performance, or a related discipline alongside QTS or PGCE.
Skills: Proficiency in at least one primary instrument/voice, functional keyboard skills, working knowledge of music software (e.g., Logic, Sibelius, or GarageBand), and strong classroom management.
