This role offers an opportunity for a History Teacher to join an established Humanities department and deliver a well-rounded curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
You will teach students a variety of historical periods and themes, helping them develop their knowledge while also teaching them how to evaluate evidence, understand different interpretations and construct well-supported arguments.
The successful candidate will be expected to plan lessons that are appropriately challenging and accessible to students of different abilities. You should be able to use questioning, discussion and written tasks effectively to assess understanding and move learning forward.
GCSE History teaching experience is desirable, and there may be an opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for a candidate with suitable experience.
Alongside teaching, you will contribute to marking, assessment, curriculum planning and departmental meetings. You will also be encouraged to become involved in enrichment activities where appropriate.

History Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
History degree or related qualification
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching History at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4
GCSE History experience
KS5 experience would be advantageous
Strong knowledge of historical periods and themes
Excellent written and verbal communication
Effective classroom management
Ability to challenge and support students appropriately
Commitment to student achievement
Salary
The salary for this History Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
