Site Supervisor - Secondary School - Warrington
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale
A well-established secondary school in Warrington is looking for a dependable and hands-on Site Supervisor to take an active role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-organised school environment.
This is an important operational position requiring someone who is practical, responsible and comfortable dealing with a wide range of premises-related issues. You will help oversee the day-to-day condition of the school site, ensuring buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained appropriately and that issues are dealt with before they become larger problems.
The role would suit someone with experience in school premises, facilities, estates, caretaking or site management who is looking for a stable, long-term position within an education environment.
School Information
The school is an established secondary school in Warrington serving a large student and staff community. With a busy site used throughout the school day and for wider school activities, effective premises management is essential.
The Site Supervisor will work closely with the school leadership team and other support staff to ensure the buildings and grounds remain safe, functional and suitable for students and staff.
The successful candidate will need to take pride in the appearance and condition of the site. You will be expected to identify maintenance issues proactively rather than simply responding when something goes wrong.
Health and safety will be a significant part of the role, and you will need to follow school procedures relating to contractors, security, emergencies, fire safety and general site operations.
Site Supervisor - Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the day-to-day management of the school premises.
Carrying out regular checks of buildings, classrooms and external areas.
Identifying maintenance, repair and health and safety issues.
Reporting or arranging repairs where appropriate.
Completing routine maintenance tasks within your level of competence.
Ensuring classrooms and communal areas are ready for daily use.
Monitoring the condition of furniture, fixtures and fittings.
Supporting the maintenance of school grounds.
Ensuring entrances, pathways and access areas remain safe and presentable.
Assisting with the opening and closing of the site.
Supporting the school's security procedures.
Managing keys and access arrangements appropriately.
Liaising with contractors attending the school site.
Ensuring contractors follow agreed procedures while on site.
Supporting statutory checks and maintenance visits.
Keeping appropriate premises and maintenance records.
Supporting fire safety checks and emergency procedures.
Reporting hazards promptly.
Assisting with emergency responses when required.
Supporting the movement and setup of furniture and equipment for school events.
Preparing rooms for meetings, examinations and other activities.
Responding to reasonable site-related requests from staff.
Working with senior staff to prioritise premises issues.
Helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
You will need to be comfortable with practical tasks. This may include minor repairs, basic maintenance, moving equipment and checking facilities, although specialist work should always be carried out by appropriately qualified contractors.
Health and Safety
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining safe premises. You will be expected to carry out routine checks, identify hazards and ensure concerns are escalated appropriately.
You should have a good understanding of the importance of fire safety, security, accident reporting and safe working practices.
The role may also involve assisting with emergency situations such as leaks, damage, loss of heating or other unexpected premises issues. You will need to remain calm and practical when dealing with problems.
Contractors and External Visitors
The school regularly works with external contractors for specialist maintenance and compliance work. You may be responsible for providing access, monitoring site activity and ensuring contractors are aware of relevant school procedures.
You should therefore be confident communicating with tradespeople and external service providers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Site Supervisor - Experience and Requirements
The school would ideally like someone with previous experience in premises, facilities, caretaking or site supervision.
You should have:
Previous experience in a premises, facilities, caretaking or site-based role.
Practical maintenance skills.
Good understanding of general health and safety.
Ability to identify hazards and maintenance issues.
Good organisational skills.
Ability to prioritise urgent and routine tasks.

The Site Supervisor will work on a busy school site and may have regular contact with students. You will be expected to maintain professional boundaries, follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns through the correct channels.
Contractor and visitor management will also form part of the school's wider safeguarding arrangements.
