Role Overview
A high-achieving and supportive secondary school in Wigan is seeking an energetic and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join its dynamic Design & Technology team. This is a full-time, permanent position teaching Food Preparation and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
The position is well-suited to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers eager to foster a love for culinary skills, nutrition, and food safety. You will work in a well-equipped department backed by dedicated technician support and an approachable leadership team.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Teaching: Plan and lead engaging practical culinary workshops and theory lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring high standards of safety and hygiene.
Student Progress: Guide pupils through GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition coursework and examinations, supporting learners of all ability levels.
Resource & Safety Management: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and food hygiene regulations in kitchen environments, collaborating closely with technician staff.
Qualifications: Relevant degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Hospitality, or a related field alongside QTS or PGCE.
Skills: Strong practical management, up-to-date knowledge of the food curriculum, and a commitment to nurturing creative, confident young cooks.
