IT Technician – Supportive Secondary School in Gloucestershire
We are currently recruiting for a reliable, technically capable and customer-focused IT Technician to join the IT team of a well-established secondary school in Gloucestershire.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys working in an education environment and wants to play an important role in ensuring staff and students have access to reliable, effective and secure technology.
The Role
Working as part of the school's IT support team, you will provide day-to-day technical assistance across the school. You will work closely with teaching and administrative staff to resolve technical issues and ensure classroom technology is operating effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing first and second-line technical support to staff and students
Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues
Installing, configuring and maintaining desktops, laptops, tablets and peripherals
Supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and other education technology
Managing user accounts, passwords and access permissions
Assisting with Active Directory and device management
Supporting interactive displays, classroom AV and meeting room technology
Installing and deploying software and operating system updates
Maintaining accurate IT asset and equipment records
Responding to helpdesk requests and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently
Supporting printers, scanners, projectors and other peripheral equipment
Assisting with network troubleshooting and connectivity issues
Helping maintain a secure and well-managed IT environment
Supporting IT projects, equipment upgrades and new technology installations
Producing and maintaining technical documentation where required
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous IT support or technician experience
Has strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Is confident supporting Windows-based systems
Has experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams
Can communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users
Is organised and able to prioritise competing requests
Can work independently while contributing effectively to a team
Has a patient and approachable manner when supporting staff and students
Has an understanding of IT security and data protection
Previous experience within a school or education setting would be advantageous
