This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Technology Teacher who wants to work in a well-resourced department where practical learning and creativity are highly valued.
You will teach students across KS3 and KS4, helping them develop their understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, design principles and problem-solving. The successful teacher will be able to balance practical projects with the theoretical knowledge required by the curriculum.
Students will be encouraged to investigate problems, develop initial ideas, produce prototypes and evaluate their finished work. You will guide them through each stage of the design process while ensuring that they understand how and why different materials, tools and techniques are used.
At GCSE, you will support students with coursework or non-exam assessment where applicable, as well as preparing them for the theoretical elements of the course. Organisation and attention to detail will be particularly important when managing practical projects and ensuring students work safely.
You will also contribute to departmental planning, assessment and the development of practical resources. The school welcomes teachers who bring new ideas and are willing to contribute to the wider creative life of the department.

Design Technology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Design Technology Degree or relevant degree
QTS
Experience teaching DT at KS3 and KS4
Strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge
GCSE Design Technology experience
Ability to teach safely in a practical workshop environment
Strong organisational skills
Excellent classroom management
Ability to inspire creative and independent thinking
Salary
The salary for this Design Technology Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS.
