Are you a caring, calm and organised individual with experience supporting young people? A well-established Secondary School in Chester is seeking a dedicated Welfare Officer to provide day-to-day medical, wellbeing and welfare support to students.
This is a varied role that requires someone who can respond confidently to incidents while maintaining accurate records and professional communication with students, parents and staff.

The Welfare Officer will be responsible for responding to students who become unwell or sustain injuries during the school day. You will assess situations appropriately, provide first aid within your training and ensure that students receive the correct level of support.
You will need to maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents, medication and other relevant welfare matters. Good organisation is essential because the information you record may need to be shared with parents, safeguarding staff or medical professionals.
The role will also involve supporting students with wellbeing concerns. Some pupils may need a quiet place to recover, while others may require additional emotional support or referral to another member of the pastoral team.
The successful candidate will need to recognise the limits of their role and understand when a concern needs to be escalated. You will work closely with safeguarding and pastoral colleagues when necessary.
Communication with parents and carers will be an important part of the role. You will need to explain incidents clearly and professionally while ensuring confidential information is handled appropriately.

Welfare Officer - Experience and Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people.
Experience in a school, healthcare, childcare, welfare or similar setting.
Current First Aid qualification would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills.
Calm and reassuring manner.
Ability to respond appropriately to minor medical incidents.
Strong organisational skills.
Accurate record keeping.
