Are you an organised and confident administrator with experience working with attendance, admissions or student records? A well-established Secondary School in Tower Hamlets is looking for an experienced Attendance & Admissions Officer to join its administration and pastoral team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an important role within the school, combining daily attendance monitoring with responsibility for maintaining accurate admissions and pupil information. The successful candidate will need to be highly organised, comfortable communicating with parents and carers and confident working with confidential student information.

The Attendance & Admissions Officer will take responsibility for ensuring that attendance information is recorded accurately and followed up promptly. You will review registers each morning, identify unexplained absences and contact parents or carers where necessary.
The role requires someone who understands that attendance is not simply an administrative exercise. Persistent absence can have a significant impact on a student's education, so you will work closely with pastoral colleagues to identify patterns and ensure appropriate action is taken.
You will maintain detailed records of communication with families and ensure that attendance concerns are escalated in line with school procedures. You may also assist with attendance meetings, prepare relevant information for senior staff and contribute to strategies designed to improve attendance.
Alongside attendance, you will support the school's admissions processes. This will involve maintaining accurate records, processing relevant documentation, communicating with families and ensuring that information relating to new and existing students is kept up to date.
You will work closely with the school's administrative, pastoral and senior leadership teams. The ability to communicate information clearly and maintain professional relationships will be essential.

Monitor pupil attendance on a daily basis.
Check registers and identify unexplained absences.
Contact parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
Record all attendance-related communication accurately.
Monitor individual and whole-school attendance patterns.
Identify persistent or concerning absence.
Provide attendance information to pastoral and senior staff.
Support attendance meetings and reviews.
Maintain accurate attendance records.
Assist with attendance improvement strategies.
Liaise with tutors, pastoral leaders and safeguarding staff.
Escalate relevant concerns in line with school procedures.
Maintain accurate admissions records.
Process admissions documentation.
Communicate with families throughout the admissions process.
Update student information systems.
Check that pupil information is complete and accurate.
Support new-starter and leaver administration.
Assist with general administrative tasks when required.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Follow data protection and safeguarding procedures.
Attendance & Admissions Officer - Experience and Requirements
Previous administrative experience is essential.
Experience with school attendance or admissions is highly desirable.
Experience working with student records would be advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail.
