Role Overview

A high-achieving and welcoming 11–18 secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its thriving English Faculty. This is a full-time, permanent position delivering English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities to teach A-Level for suitably qualified candidates.

The post is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced practitioners looking to progress their careers. You will join a collaborative, supportive department committed to inspiring a love for reading, creative writing, and critical literary analysis.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 where applicable), fostering critical literacy and analytical skills.

  • Student Achievement: Maintain high academic expectations, supporting students of all abilities to achieve outstanding outcomes in GCSE English Language and Literature.

  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to innovative scheme-of-work design, literacy initiatives, and extra-curricular enrichment such as debate clubs and creative writing workshops.

  • Qualifications: Relevant degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related discipline alongside QTS or PGCE.

  • Skills: Excellent subject knowledge, strong communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive classroom management.
