Job Overview
Criminology plays a prominent role in this school’s post-16 vocational and academic curriculum. The successful applicant will deliver engaging Criminology lessons across Key Stage 5 (WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology), with potential introductory law or sociology teaching.
Working closely with the Social Sciences department, you will guide pupils through crime scene investigation, criminological theories, courtroom procedures, and social policy, while organizing educational visits to law courts. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging applied and theoretical Criminology lessons across Key Stage 5
Direct and assist with extra-curricular legal activities, mock trial competitions, and guest speaker sessions
Guide Level 3 Diploma pupils through controlled internal assessments (NEA) and written exam preparation
Maintain crime scene scenario resources, legal case study archives, and digital media suites safely
Assess, track, and report on student progress across controlled coursework and external examinations
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Sixth Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT / QTLS)
Honors degree in Criminology, Law, Criminal Justice, or a closely related social science discipline
Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong Level 3 Criminology outcomes
Good familiarity with WJEC Level 3 Criminology specifications and internal moderation rules
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
