Job Overview
Design & Technology plays a prominent role in this school’s academic and technical identity. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical DT lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE / Vocational), covering Resistant Materials, Product Design, and CAD/CAM techniques.
Working closely with the technical department and workshop technicians, you will guide pupils through the full design cycle, 3D modeling, laser cutting, and workshop manufacturing. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging practical and theoretical Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Train and supervise pupils in the safe operation of hand tools, workshop machinery, laser cutters, and 3D printers
Guide GCSE pupils through Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) practical coursework portfolios and exam preparation
Maintain workshop spaces, heavy machinery, CAD/CAM suites, and material inventories safely
Assess, track, and report on student progress across practical manufacturing and design portfolios
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
Honors degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, or Engineering
Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE DT outcomes
Valid machine safety certification (DATA / CLEAPSS) and digital design software proficiency
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
