The Pastoral Support Officer will have a visible role within the school and will provide an important link between students, their families and the wider school team.
You will work with students who may require additional support with attendance, behaviour, organisation, motivation or engagement. Your role will be to identify concerns early, establish positive relationships and work with students to find practical ways forward.
A significant part of the position will involve communicating with students on a regular basis. You will need to be approachable while also maintaining clear boundaries and expectations. The ability to listen carefully and respond appropriately will be essential.
You will also work alongside teaching staff to understand concerns that may be affecting a student's progress. Where appropriate, you will contribute to support plans, monitor agreed actions and provide feedback to relevant colleagues.
Communication with parents and carers will also form part of the role. You will need to approach these conversations professionally and constructively, ensuring that families understand the support available and are kept informed of relevant concerns.

Pastoral Support Officer - Experience and Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people.
Experience in a pastoral, youth work, education or support role is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries.
Calm and patient approach.
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information.
Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds.
