A friendly and well-established Primary School in Maidstone is seeking a reliable Caretaker to take pride in the day-to-day upkeep, security and general presentation of the school site.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is practical, responsible and able to take ownership of the school's premises. You will become an important member of the wider support team and will help ensure that children and staff have a safe, clean and functional environment every day.

The successful Caretaker will be responsible for a wide range of practical duties across the school. This will include monitoring the condition of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, toilets and communal areas and ensuring that any issues are dealt with promptly.
You will undertake routine maintenance and minor repairs where appropriate and within your level of competence. Larger or specialist issues will need to be identified and reported to the appropriate person or contractor.
The role will also involve preparing rooms and facilities for meetings, assemblies, events and other school activities. You may occasionally need to move furniture or equipment and assist staff with practical requirements.
Security will form another important part of the position. You will support the school's procedures for opening and closing the premises, monitor access and ensure that visitors and contractors follow the appropriate arrangements.

Report larger maintenance issues promptly.
Monitor classrooms, corridors and communal areas.
Maintain outdoor areas and playground spaces.
Prepare rooms for meetings and school events.
Move furniture and equipment where required.
Support deliveries and storage.
Assist with site security.
Open and close buildings according to school procedures.
Monitor access to the premises.
Liaise with contractors and service providers.
Ensure contractors follow relevant school procedures.
Identify and report health and safety hazards.
Support emergency and evacuation procedures.
Assist with relevant compliance checks.
Keep appropriate records of maintenance and site issues.
Support the school in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Caretaker - Experience and Requirements
Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities or a similar practical role.
Good general maintenance skills.
Practical and proactive approach.
