A well-established secondary school in Liverpool is looking to appoint a confident, consistent and experienced Behaviour Manager to join its dedicated pastoral and student-support team.
This is a key position within the school, supporting the implementation of behaviour expectations and helping students develop positive attitudes towards school, learning and their relationships with others. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, senior leadership, students and families to address behaviour concerns and put appropriate support in place.
The school is looking for someone who can build strong professional relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. You will need to be resilient and confident when dealing with challenging situations, while ensuring that students are treated fairly and respectfully.
This is a varied role involving behaviour monitoring, intervention, student support, communication with families and collaboration with colleagues across the school.

Pastoral and Behaviour Team
The Behaviour Manager will work as part of the wider pastoral structure, liaising with pastoral leaders, heads of year, teachers, senior leaders and families.
You will provide a visible presence around the school and respond appropriately when behaviour incidents occur. You will also support individual students who require targeted intervention and help monitor whether strategies are having a positive impact.
Accurate record keeping will be an important part of the position, ensuring that behaviour information is recorded consistently and can be used to identify trends and inform future support.

Promoting high standards of behaviour throughout the school.
Building positive professional relationships with students.
Providing visible support around the school site.
Responding appropriately to behaviour incidents.
Supporting staff when dealing with challenging behaviour.
Monitoring behaviour records and identifying patterns.
Maintaining accurate records of incidents and interventions.
Supporting individual behaviour improvement plans.
Working with students to identify the causes and consequences of behaviour.
Holding follow-up conversations with students after incidents.
Encouraging students to take responsibility for their choices.
Supporting restorative conversations where appropriate.
Communicating with parents and carers regarding behaviour concerns.
Supporting meetings involving students, families and school staff.
Working closely with heads of year and pastoral leaders.
Supporting students who require additional behavioural intervention.
Monitoring the impact of behaviour strategies.
Identifying students who may require wider pastoral support.
Contributing to behaviour-related reports and meetings.
Supporting reintegration following exclusions or periods away from normal lessons where appropriate.
Liaising with relevant staff regarding safeguarding concerns.
Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Supporting students to develop appropriate strategies for managing behaviour.
Contributing to wider student wellbeing initiatives.
Following school safeguarding and behaviour procedures consistently.
Experience and Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a behaviour, pastoral, education, youth work or student-support position. Experience working with secondary-aged students and challenging behaviour would be particularly beneficial.
You will need to be confident and consistent while also demonstrating empathy and patience. The successful candidate should understand that students respond positively when expectations are clear and relationships are built on mutual respect.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding is a fundamental part of the school's work. The successful candidate will be expected to follow all safeguarding procedures, report concerns appropriately and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for students.
An enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and other relevant pre-employment checks will be required.
