A well-established secondary school in Enfield, London is seeking a highly organised and confident Attendance & Admissions Officer to join its busy administration and pastoral team. This is a key role within the school, combining responsibility for accurate attendance monitoring with the efficient administration of admissions and student records.
The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring that attendance information is accurate, concerns are followed up promptly and parents and carers receive clear and professional communication. Alongside this, you will support the admissions process, ensuring that student information and documentation are correctly recorded and that new students are welcomed and appropriately supported as they join the school.
This position would suit an administrator who is confident working with sensitive information, comfortable communicating with families and able to manage a varied workload. Attendance & Admissions Team
The Attendance & Admissions Officer will work closely with the school's attendance lead, pastoral staff, senior leadership and administration team.
Attendance responsibilities will include monitoring daily attendance, following up unexplained absences, maintaining accurate records and communicating with parents and carers. You will also assist with identifying emerging attendance patterns and ensuring concerns are passed to the appropriate member of staff.
The admissions element of the role will involve supporting applications, maintaining student records, processing relevant documentation and assisting families throughout the admissions process.
The successful candidate will need to balance administrative accuracy with a professional and approachable manner. Some attendance conversations may be sensitive, so the ability to communicate firmly while remaining respectful and supportive is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring student attendance on a daily basis.
Ensuring attendance records are accurate and updated promptly.
Following up unexplained absences in accordance with school procedures.
Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
Maintaining detailed records of attendance-related communication.
Identifying patterns of absence and bringing concerns to the attention of relevant staff.
Supporting the school's attendance improvement strategies.
Preparing attendance information and reports for senior and pastoral leaders.
Assisting with attendance meetings where required.
Liaising with pastoral teams regarding students with attendance concerns.
Supporting communication with families where persistent absence becomes an issue.

Supporting admissions enquiries and applications.
Processing admissions documentation accurately.
Maintaining up-to-date student records.
Liaising with parents and carers regarding admission arrangements.
Supporting the collection and organisation of new student information.
Ensuring relevant documentation is received and recorded.
Assisting with student transfers and leavers' administration.
Updating school databases and information systems.
Responding professionally to telephone and email enquiries.
Providing administrative support to senior and pastoral staff.
Preparing letters, forms and correspondence.
Maintaining organised electronic and paper filing systems.
Supporting general office administration when required.
Following school policies relating to attendance, admissions, safeguarding and data protection.
Experience and Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in school administration, attendance, admissions or a similar administrative position. Experience within a secondary school environment would be particularly beneficial.
Strong organisational skills are essential, as the role involves maintaining accurate records while managing several responsibilities at the same time. You will need to be comfortable working to deadlines and following established procedures.
Excellent communication skills are also important. The successful candidate will regularly communicate with parents, carers, students and staff, including when discussing potentially sensitive attendance matters.
