Science Technician Role in an Independent Secondary School

An Independent Secondary School in Greenwich is seeking an organised and practical Science Technician to join its busy Science Department. The successful candidate will provide essential support for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping to ensure laboratories are safe, well stocked and fully prepared.

This role would suit an experienced Science Technician or someone with relevant laboratory experience who is keen to work within an educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical lessons

• Support teachers during experiments and demonstrations

• Maintain laboratory equipment and preparation areas

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies

• Safely store chemicals and scientific materials

• Carry out routine equipment checks and maintenance

• Follow laboratory health and safety procedures

• Keep accurate records of equipment and resources

• Ensure laboratories are clean, organised and ready for lessons

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous laboratory, technical or Science Technician experience

• Good knowledge of scientific equipment and practical procedures

• Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety

• Excellent organisation and attention to detail

• A practical, reliable and proactive approach

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication skills
