The Opportunity

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging, practical and challenging Food Technology lessons across the relevant Key Stages.

• Develop students’ knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, food science and healthy eating.

• Encourage creativity, independence, problem-solving and confidence through practical work.

• Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.

• Prepare students thoroughly for examinations and relevant qualifications where applicable.

• Maintain high standards of behaviour, safety and hygiene within practical lessons.

• Contribute to curriculum development and wider departmental initiatives.

• Support enrichment activities and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Have strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Food Technology.

• Have experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school setting.

• Be confident delivering practical lessons and managing a specialist food classroom.

• Inspire students of different abilities and encourage them to achieve their full potential.

• Demonstrate high expectations for achievement, effort, behaviour and practical standards.

• Bring creativity, enthusiasm and a positive approach to the classroom.

• Work effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive department.

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
