The Role
The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across the secondary age range, delivering engaging and challenging lessons in a well-equipped and supportive environment.
You will encourage students to think creatively, develop practical skills and approach design challenges with confidence. Alongside classroom teaching, you will contribute to the wider life of the school and work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain the department's high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, practical Design Technology lessons that challenge and inspire students.
Develop students' design, making, problem-solving and evaluation skills through a variety of projects.
Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment with high expectations for achievement and behaviour.
Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback to support development.
Contribute to curriculum planning and the continued development of the Design Technology department.
Promote safe and effective working practices within practical workshops and classrooms.
Support the wider school community through enrichment activities, events and extracurricular opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher who can bring creativity, energy and strong subject knowledge to the classroom.
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching Design Technology within a secondary school setting.
Strong practical and technical subject knowledge with a passion for creative education.
The ability to inspire students of different abilities and encourage independent thinking.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to the wider life of an independent school.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Full eligibility to work in the UK.
