A well-regarded Independent School in Croydon is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join its Humanities department from September on a full-time, permanent basis.

This position would suit a History teacher who enjoys bringing the past to life and encouraging students to look beyond simply learning dates and events. The successful candidate will be able to create lessons that encourage curiosity, discussion and independent thought.
You will teach a broad History curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop strong chronological understanding alongside the ability to analyse sources, evaluate interpretations and construct well-supported arguments.
The school is looking for someone who can make History accessible to students of different abilities without losing the academic depth of the subject. You should be confident in explaining complex historical ideas clearly and encouraging students to ask questions and form their own conclusions.
The successful candidate will become part of a supportive Humanities team that works closely together to plan schemes of work, moderate assessments and share effective classroom practice.

History Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
• History Degree or relevant degree
• Qualified Teacher Status
• Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4
• GCSE History teaching experience
• A-Level experience would be advantageous
• Excellent subject knowledge
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to plan engaging and challenging lessons
• Effective classroom management
• Commitment to high academic standards
• Ability to work effectively as part of a department

Salary
The salary for this History Teacher position will be paid to scale on a contract to scale MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
