An outstanding secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Economics Teacher to join its successful Social Sciences department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or ECT with a strong understanding of Economics who is passionate about developing students' analytical, evaluative and critical-thinking skills.

The Role

You will teach Economics across KS4 and KS5, delivering well-structured lessons covering both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Students will be encouraged to explore economic concepts, analyse data, evaluate policies and develop well-supported arguments.

You will play an important role in preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, while ensuring lessons remain relevant through the use of contemporary economic examples, news and case studies.

Alongside classroom teaching, you will monitor student progress, contribute to departmental planning and work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Economics across KS4 and KS5.

• Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Economics lessons.

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations.

• Develop students' analytical, evaluative and quantitative skills.

• Teach key areas including markets, market failure, government policy, taxation, inflation, unemployment, economic growth and international trade.

• Use relevant economic news and real-world examples to support learning.

• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

• Assess and monitor student progress effectively.

• Provide constructive feedback to support academic development.

• Maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement.

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.

• Support Economics-related enrichment and wider school activities.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Social Sciences department.

• Maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress.

• Follow all school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
