CORE PURPOSE
We are seeking an enthusiastic, articulate, and dedicated Science Teacher to deliver dynamic biology, chemistry, and physics lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level delivery depending on specialist discipline). Working within an established Science faculty across a multi-school academy hub in Walsall, the successful candidate will foster scientific inquiry, build core laboratory skills, and prepare students of all attainment levels to excel in GCSE Combined and Separate Sciences.
THE SCHOOL
Set on a well-resourced campus featuring purpose-built science laboratories, interactive demonstration suites, and dedicated prep room support, this vibrant secondary academy serves over 1,000 pupils aged 11–18 in Walsall. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach engaging, practical-led science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (AQA/Edexcel GCSE Combined Science and Separate Sciences), embedding scientific principles, experimental design, and data analysis.
Laboratory & Practical Management: Execute practical experiments safely, managing chemical storage, lab equipment, and scientific apparatus in strict compliance with CLEAPSS and school health and safety guidelines.
Assessment & Student Progress: Conduct regular diagnostic assessments, evaluate required practical work, and implement targeted academic interventions to ensure all students achieve or exceed their target grades.
STEM & Co-Curricular Contribution: Support extracurricular STEM initiatives, including after-school science clubs, national science week activities, and regional STEM challenge events.
Pastoral Responsibilities: Act as a dedicated Form Tutor, supporting students' wellbeing, attendance tracking, and personal development within the school's supportive pastoral framework.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related scientific discipline. Confident Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced secondary practitioners are equally encouraged to apply.
Experience: Proven track record of teaching Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 within a UK mainstream secondary school or academy environment.
Skills: Strong subject knowledge across general sciences, excellent laboratory safety management, clear explanation skills, and the ability to make complex abstract principles accessible and engaging to young learners.
