A well-established Secondary School in Peterborough is seeking a practical, dependable and proactive Site Supervisor to join its premises and facilities team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an important role within the school, responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the site and helping to ensure that the buildings, grounds and facilities remain safe, secure and fit for purpose.
The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, has strong practical skills and can respond effectively to both routine maintenance requirements and unexpected issues. You will work closely with school leaders, premises colleagues, contractors and other members of staff.

Site Supervisor Role

Monitoring buildings, grounds and facilities.
Carrying out routine site checks.

You will play a practical role in ensuring that the school is ready for students and staff each day. This includes identifying potential issues, completing routine checks and responding to maintenance requirements promptly.

Premises & Facilities Team
The Site Supervisor will work as part of the school's premises function, supporting routine maintenance, security, health and safety and general site operations.
The successful candidate should be comfortable moving around the school site throughout the day and undertaking a range of practical duties.
You will also need to communicate effectively with contractors and colleagues, particularly when arranging access, reporting maintenance issues or supporting works taking place on site.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine inspections of school buildings and grounds.
Identify maintenance issues and report them appropriately.
Undertake minor repairs within the limits of your skills and competence.
Monitor classrooms, offices and communal areas.
Check doors, windows, gates and access points.
Support the school's security procedures.
Assist with opening and securing buildings.
Maintain appropriate records of site checks.
Report hazards and potential safety concerns.
Assist with health and safety checks.
Support fire safety procedures.
Assist with emergency arrangements.
Monitor the condition of outdoor areas.
Assist with playground and grounds maintenance.
Help ensure pathways and entrances remain safe.
Assist with deliveries and storage.
Receive and move equipment where appropriate.
Set up rooms for meetings, examinations and school events.
Move furniture and equipment safely.
Liaise with contractors.
Assist contractors when working on site.
Ensure contractors follow appropriate site procedures.
Report completed works and outstanding maintenance.
Monitor the condition of school furniture and equipment.
Support waste management arrangements.
Assist with stock and equipment checks.
Respond promptly to practical issues reported by staff.
Keep relevant tools and equipment organised.
Maintain appropriate records.
Support the wider premises team.
Follow school health and safety policies.
Maintain professional relationships with staff and visitors.
Experience and Requirements
Previous experience within premises, facilities management, caretaking, maintenance, construction or a similar practical environment would be highly desirable.
The school is looking for someone who is confident undertaking practical work and understands the importance of working safely.
You should be able to prioritise tasks and recognise which issues can be dealt with immediately and which require specialist assistance.
