Attendance Officer | Outstanding Secondary School | Birmingham
A thriving Outstanding Secondary School in Birmingham is looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Attendance Officer from October 2026.
You will play a central role in improving attendance across the school, working directly with students and families while providing accurate attendance information to the wider pastoral and senior leadership teams. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, working with data and making a real difference to students' engagement with education.
The Role
Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school
Follow up unexplained and persistent absence with parents and carers
Analyse attendance data to identify patterns and emerging concerns
Maintain accurate records using the school's MIS
Coordinate attendance interventions for individual students
Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and senior leadership teams
Build positive relationships with students and families
Attend meetings and contribute to attendance action plans
Liaise with external agencies when necessary
Help promote a positive culture of attendance throughout the school
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in school attendance, pastoral work, education administration or a similar role. You will be confident handling sensitive situations, communicating with families and using data to identify where additional support may be needed.
You should be highly organised, resilient and able to manage your workload effectively in a busy school environment. Experience with Arbor, SIMS, Bromcom or another school MIS would be beneficial.
