Regular attendance is a huge part of helping students make the most of their education, and this Outstanding Secondary School in Redbridge is looking for an organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join its team from October 2026.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, communicating with families and using accurate data to identify and address attendance concerns.
The successful candidate will work closely with the pastoral and safeguarding teams, taking ownership of day-to-day attendance monitoring and supporting strategies to improve punctuality and attendance across the school.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality
Following up on unexplained absences
Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns
Identifying patterns of absence and escalating concerns appropriately
Maintaining accurate attendance records and reports
Working closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders
Supporting attendance meetings and intervention strategies
Liaising with external agencies where appropriate
Using the school's MIS to monitor and report attendance
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who is:
Experienced in attendance, school administration or a similar role
Highly organised and confident managing data
Comfortable communicating with parents, students and staff
Professional, resilient and able to handle sensitive situations
Confident using IT and school management information systems
Proactive, reliable and able to work independently
