Senior Admin Officer | Multi-Academy Trust Secondary Academy | Islington
CORE PURPOSE
We are seeking an organized, highly proficient, and proactive Senior Admin Officer to lead administrative operations, oversee school data systems, and manage front-of-house operations within a vibrant secondary academy in Islington. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will line-manage administrative staff, coordinate pupil data and attendance reporting, support senior leadership with statutory returns, and deliver exceptional operational efficiency across the academy.

The administration team functions as the operational core of the school, supporting high academic aspirations through seamless office systems, robust safeguarding compliance, and professional communication with families and external agencies.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Administrative Team Leadership: Line-manage administrative assistants and reception staff, coordinating daily workloads, shift patterns, and training to maintain high standards of office support.
MIS & Data Management: Oversee the school Management Information System (Arbor, SIMS, or Bromcom), managing student records, processing census returns, and generating progress/attendance reports for senior staff.
Admissions & Student Records: Manage the secondary transition process, process mid-year admissions, oversee student file transfers, and liaise with the local authority regarding attendance and pupil mobility.
Executive & Event Support: Provide high-level administrative support to the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, coordinating school events, open evenings, governor reporting, and official correspondence.
Safeguarding & Visitors: Manage front-desk visitor procedures, enforce strict single central record (SCR) identity checks, and maintain robust records in compliance with child protection guidelines.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Strong educational background with GCSEs in English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above). Qualifications in Business Administration, Office Management, or School Business Operations (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4) are highly desirable.
Experience: Significant administrative experience within an educational setting (secondary school, academy trust, or college), with proven experience managing school MIS platforms and leading administrative processes.
Skills: Advanced IT proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, school MIS databases), excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership ability, and the capacity to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
