This is a particularly exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys discussion-led teaching and wants to help students develop sophisticated analytical and evaluative skills.
You will teach students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Sociology, helping them develop a strong understanding of sociological theories, research methods and contemporary social issues. The successful candidate will be expected to bring the subject to life through relevant examples, thought-provoking discussions and challenging academic material.
The department is looking for someone who is confident in their subject knowledge but also understands how to make complex concepts accessible. You will work alongside experienced colleagues and contribute to a department where high standards and intellectual curiosity are encouraged.

Sociology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
A degree in Sociology or a closely related subject.
QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level.
Experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Sociology.
Strong knowledge of sociological theory and research methods.
Excellent analytical and evaluative skills.
Ability to facilitate mature and purposeful discussion.
Strong classroom management.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to stretch high-achieving students.

Salary
The salary for this Sociology Teacher position will be paid to scale at MPS1 - UPS3, depending on experience and qualifications.
