Maths Teacher | Voluntary Aided Catholic Secondary School | Northampton
CORE PURPOSE
We are seeking an outstanding, passionate, and dedicated Maths Teacher to deliver high-quality mathematics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with opportunities for Key Stage 5 A-Level Pure Maths, Mechanics, or Statistics). Working within a supportive and high-achieving Mathematics department, the successful candidate will foster numerical confidence, problem-solving skills, and academic excellence, supporting pupils of all abilities to achieve their full potential.

Set on spacious grounds featuring purpose-built mathematics suites, interactive smart technology in every classroom, and dedicated learning support zones, this high-performing voluntary aided secondary school serves over 1,000 pupils aged 11–18 in Northampton. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, structured mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Edexcel/AQA GCSE specifications), embedding fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Post-16 Teaching: Contribute to A-Level Mathematics delivery (Pure Mathematics, Statistics, and Mechanics) and Level 3 Core Maths modules where applicable.
Assessment & Target Setting: Systematically monitor pupil progress through regular topic assessments, diagnostic marking, and mock exams, implementing targeted interventions for students requiring extra support.
Exam Preparation & Challenge: Prepare Key Stage 4 students thoroughly for Higher and Foundation GCSE tiers, while running extension masterclasses and preparing high-attaining pupils for UKMT Mathematical Challenges.
Pastoral Responsibilities: Act as a dedicated Form Tutor, supporting pupils' personal development, wellbeing, and academic progress within the school's caring pastoral framework.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced secondary practitioners are equally welcome to apply.
Experience: Proven experience teaching Mathematics across secondary key stages within a UK mainstream secondary school or academy setting.
Skills: Excellent mathematical subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills, proficiency with digital teaching tools, and the ability to make complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging.
