A well-established Secondary School in Plymouth is seeking an experienced and dependable Site Supervisor to join its premises and facilities team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an important operational position responsible for helping to maintain a safe, secure, clean and well-organised school site for students, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will have a practical and proactive approach and will take pride in maintaining high standards across the school premises. You will work closely with the Site Manager and wider leadership team, helping to ensure that the school operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
This is a varied role that requires someone who is comfortable responding to changing priorities, carrying out practical duties and working with contractors and external suppliers when required.

Premises & Facilities Team
The Site Supervisor will work alongside other premises staff and school leaders to maintain the school's buildings, grounds and facilities.
The role will involve a combination of routine site duties, health and safety checks, minor maintenance, security responsibilities and general operational support.
No two days are necessarily the same, so the ability to prioritise tasks and respond appropriately to urgent issues is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the school site.
Carry out regular checks of buildings, grounds and facilities.
Identify maintenance issues and report them appropriately.
Undertake minor repairs and practical maintenance tasks where competent.
Assist with opening and securing school buildings.
Ensure doors, windows and access points are secure when required.
Support the management of keys and access arrangements.
Monitor the general condition of classrooms, corridors, offices and communal areas.
Assist with setting up rooms for lessons, meetings and school events.
Move furniture and equipment safely when required.
Support deliveries and ensure goods are received and stored appropriately.
Liaise with contractors and external service providers.
Assist contractors when they are working on site.
Maintain accurate records of site checks and maintenance issues.
Support health and safety procedures.
Report hazards promptly.
Assist with emergency procedures and respond appropriately to site incidents.
Carry out routine checks of equipment and facilities.
Support the maintenance of outdoor areas and grounds.
Assist with waste management and general site cleanliness.
Monitor the condition of school furniture and equipment.
Ensure practical jobs are completed safely and efficiently.
Assist with compliance checks and documentation.
Support fire safety procedures and relevant site checks.
Help maintain appropriate standards of security across the school.
Respond to urgent site issues during the school day.
Support the wider premises team with general duties.
Maintain professional relationships with staff, contractors and visitors.
Follow school health and safety policies at all times.
Person Specification
The school is looking for someone with a practical mindset who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of maintaining a safe and functional school environment.
Previous experience in a school, college, commercial building, facilities environment, housing, construction or another relevant setting would be advantageous.
The successful candidate should be comfortable undertaking practical work and should understand the importance of following health and safety procedures.

You will need to be able to move around the school site regularly and undertake practical duties when required. A willingness to respond to unexpected issues is important.
