About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and inspirational Psychology and Female PE Teacher to join our supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality Psychology and PE lessons, helping students develop their academic knowledge, confidence, physical skills and understanding of health and wellbeing.
Working within a collaborative team and reporting to the relevant Heads of Department, the postholder will contribute to high-quality teaching and learning while supporting the school's commitment to academic excellence, inclusion, student wellbeing and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and high-quality Psychology and Female PE lessons across the relevant Key Stages.
Develop and deliver schemes of work that meet curriculum and examination requirements.
Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic and personal development.
Create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment that encourages participation, confidence and achievement.
Support students in developing their psychological knowledge, critical thinking, physical skills, teamwork and understanding of health and wellbeing.
Contribute to the development of Psychology and PE curriculum resources and departmental initiatives.
Maintain high standards of classroom management, behaviour and participation in line with school policies.
Contribute to extracurricular activities, sporting events, clubs and wider school initiatives.
Participate in departmental meetings, school events and professional development opportunities.
Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement and wellbeing.
Person Specification
Essential
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience teaching Psychology and/or Physical Education at secondary level.
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Psychology and PE.
Ability and willingness to teach Female PE across the relevant Key Stages.
Excellent classroom management, organisation and lesson-planning skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable
Experience teaching Psychology to GCSE and/or A-Level.
Experience teaching PE across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Knowledge of GCSE Psychology and/or PE examination specifications.
Experience organising or supporting extracurricular sports, fixtures, clubs or enrichment activities.
Experience contributing to wider wellbeing, health or STEM/academic initiatives.
