An established Independent School in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable Science Technician to join its highly regarded Science department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with practical laboratory experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure teachers and students have everything they need for successful and engaging practical lessons.
The successful candidate will work across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, preparing experiments, organising equipment and maintaining laboratories to an excellent standard. You will work closely with teachers and other technicians to ensure practical activities are prepared accurately and safely, while also supporting students during investigations where appropriate.
This is a hands-on role and would suit somebody who is naturally organised, takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a busy academic environment. You will have responsibility for preparing materials in advance of lessons, maintaining stock levels, carrying out equipment checks and ensuring practical areas are ready for use.

Science Department

Responsibilities
Preparing practical experiments for Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.
Setting up laboratory equipment and resources before lessons.
Preparing solutions and practical materials where appropriate.
Maintaining laboratory equipment.
Cleaning and safely storing apparatus.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies.
Maintaining accurate equipment and chemical inventories.
Supporting GCSE and A-Level practical activities.
Carrying out routine equipment safety checks.
Ensuring laboratories and preparation rooms remain organised.
Supporting teachers during practical lessons when required.
Following departmental health and safety procedures.
Managing the safe disposal of laboratory waste.
Assisting with demonstrations and practical assessments.
Supporting science clubs, enrichment activities and school events.
Requirements
Previous Science Technician, Laboratory Technician or similar practical experience.
Good knowledge of laboratory procedures.
Understanding of health and safety within a school or laboratory environment.
Strong organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prepare practical work accurately.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good IT and administrative skills.
Reliable and proactive approach.
