A welcoming Faith Secondary School in Leicestershire is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sociology Teacher to join its successful Humanities and Social Sciences department from September. The Role
The successful Sociology Teacher will teach Sociology across KS4 and KS5, delivering engaging lessons that encourage students to explore the structures, relationships, and institutions that shape society.
You will cover key areas such as families and households, education, crime and deviance, social stratification, research methods, media, and contemporary social issues. Students will be encouraged to examine sociological theories, evaluate evidence, interpret research, and develop well-reasoned arguments.
The successful candidate will bring current examples and relevant social issues into lessons, helping students understand how sociological concepts can be applied beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Sociology across KS4 and KS5
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and thought-provoking lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Develop students' analytical, evaluative, and research skills
Encourage students to engage critically with sociological theories and evidence
Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support Sociology enrichment activities and wider school initiatives
Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level
Strong knowledge of GCSE Sociology
Excellent subject knowledge and communication skills
Strong classroom management abilities
Ability to encourage discussion, analysis, and independent thinking
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Sociology
Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Strong understanding of sociological research methods and theories
Experience supporting Sociology or Humanities enrichment activities
A degree or relevant academic background in Sociology or a related subject
A passion for contemporary social issues and academic debate
