An Independent Secondary School in Lincolnshire is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join its established department from September. About the Role
The successful Design & Technology Teacher will teach across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to contribute to KS5 depending on experience and departmental requirements.
You will deliver a varied curriculum that allows students to explore design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and modern technologies. Lessons will combine theoretical understanding with practical application, giving students opportunities to design, develop, manufacture, and evaluate their own work.
The department welcomes teachers with a specialism in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, or related disciplines.
You will also contribute to wider departmental activities and encourage students to participate in creative and practical opportunities beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5 where appropriate
Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and relevant post-16 examinations
Develop students' design, technical, and problem-solving skills
Support students with coursework and extended practical projects
Maintain high standards of health and safety within specialist facilities
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support extracurricular projects, competitions, and enrichment activities

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge
Excellent classroom management skills
Commitment to maintaining high standards of workshop health and safety
Strong communication and organisational abilities
Desirable
Ability to contribute to KS5 teaching
Experience delivering GCSE Design & Technology
A specialism in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, or Graphics
Experience with CAD/CAM and modern manufacturing techniques
A passion for developing students' creativity and technical skills
