Cover Supervisor – Secondary Academies Across Bournemouth (ASAP Start, Ongoing Basis)
Secondary schools, multi-academy trusts, and Sixth Form colleges across Bournemouth (BH postcodes, including Central Bournemouth, Boscombe, Southbourne, Winton, and Talbot Village) are seeking energetic, adaptable Cover Supervisors for an immediate (ASAP) start on an ongoing basis.
Role Overview
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of students' education during teacher absences. You will step into pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, taking charge of the classroom, managing student behavior, and ensuring pupils complete the work set by absent department staff.
This ongoing position is ideal for graduates, aspiring secondary teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, or experienced classroom managers looking for steady full-time or part-time work without the obligations of lesson planning, marking, or parents' evenings.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise pre-set lessons across diverse secondary subjects (STEM, Humanities, Languages, Creative Arts) in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
Create a safe, purposeful, and structured learning environment in every classroom
Enforce each school's behavior management policy consistently, handling classroom dynamics calmly and authoritatively
Distribute learning materials, explain set instructions clearly, and assist pupils with their tasks
Complete electronic attendance registers accurately at the start of every period
Collect completed student work and leave structured handover notes for returning class teachers

Candidate Requirements
Degree qualification OR strong secondary classroom/youth leadership experience (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Sports Coach, Youth Leader, Tutor)

Excellent communication, adaptability, and organizational skills
Ability to handle unexpected timetable shifts and comfortably manage different subject environments
An active DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
