A highly regarded secondary school in Oxford is seeking a talented and creative Art & Design Teacher to join its Visual Arts department for a permanent January start.

This is a premier opportunity to join an academically scholarly school that values traditional artistic techniques, digital media, and rich exhibition work.

Job Overview

Celebrated for its creative atmosphere and spacious studio environments, the school seeks an artist-educator to teach Fine Art, Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Art & Design).

Working alongside experienced art specialists, you will guide students through artistic research, observational drawing, technical skill execution, and portfolio curation. This is a full-time, permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach inspiring Art & Design lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level)

  • Guide Sixth Form students through creative portfolio development for university art foundation entry

  • Assist in organizing, curating, and hosting annual student art exhibitions and gallery showcases

  • Maintain studio environments, print presses, ceramics kilns, and art materials safely

  • Assess, track, and report on pupil progress, preparing Key Stage 4 and 5 cohorts for practical non-exam assessments (NEA)

  • Serve as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing, academic progress, and personal development

  • Strong personal artistic portfolio demonstrating expertise across diverse visual techniques

  • Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE and A-Level Art outcomes

  • Superb studio management, classroom presence, and portfolio mentoring skills
