A selective independent day school in Saffron Walden is appointing a History Teacher to its senior school from January.

The school is looking for someone who can turn historical knowledge into challenging enquiry. You will teach a broad programme across KS3–KS5, develop students' source analysis and essay-writing skills, and prepare examination groups for GCSE and A-Level.

There is strong scope for intellectual enrichment through historical societies, lectures, competitions and trips. Candidates with a particular area of historical expertise are encouraged to bring that interest into the wider curriculum.

You should have excellent subject knowledge, a relevant degree and successful secondary teaching experience. Sixth-form experience would be beneficial.

The History department values debate, evidence and independent thought. Teachers are encouraged to explore topics beyond the minimum examination requirements and to cultivate students' curiosity about the past.
