A large comprehensive school in Basildon is looking for an English Teacher for a two-term fixed-term appointment.

The department is seeking someone who can make literature and language accessible to students with varied starting points. You will teach across KS3 and examination classes, helping pupils strengthen analytical reading, creative and transactional writing, vocabulary and spoken communication.

The successful teacher will enjoy using discussion, performance, independent reading and carefully selected texts to make English memorable. You will also contribute to assessment, feedback and intervention planning, working closely with colleagues to maintain consistent expectations.

A degree in English or a related discipline and recognised teaching experience would be desirable. What matters most is secure subject knowledge, effective classroom practice and the ability to build trust with teenagers.
