Office Manager - Independent Secondary School - Islington
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Dependent on experience
Office Manager
Are you an experienced administrator who enjoys taking responsibility, keeping a busy office organised and making sure everything runs efficiently behind the scenes? An Independent Secondary School in Islington is looking to appoint a confident and highly organised Office Manager to join its administrative team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a key position within the school and would suit an individual who is comfortable managing a wide range of administrative responsibilities while remaining approachable and professional when dealing with students, parents, staff and visitors.
As Office Manager, you will play a central role in the day-to-day running of the school office. You will help coordinate administrative systems, support senior colleagues, oversee office processes and ensure that information is communicated accurately and efficiently across the school.
The role is varied and fast-paced. One day may involve coordinating meetings and responding to parent enquiries, while another may involve preparing documentation, supporting school events, managing office resources or helping senior leaders with important administrative projects.
The successful candidate will need to be someone who can take ownership of their workload. You will not need to be told about every task that needs completing; instead, you should be able to look ahead, identify priorities and make sure important deadlines are met.
You will also need to be comfortable dealing with confidential information. Working in a school means that you will regularly have access to sensitive information relating to students, families and staff, so discretion and professionalism are essential.

This is an established Independent Secondary School in Islington with a strong reputation for academic achievement, student development and high professional standards.
The school provides a supportive and well-organised environment where students are encouraged to become confident, independent and responsible young people.
Alongside a broad academic curriculum, students benefit from extracurricular activities, enrichment opportunities and a strong pastoral structure.
The school places significant value on the contribution made by its support staff. Administrative colleagues work closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, pastoral teams and families to ensure that the school operates effectively each day.
The successful Office Manager will therefore become an important member of the wider school community.
The school values people who are organised, reliable and willing to contribute beyond a narrow list of duties when required. The successful candidate will be expected to develop positive relationships across the school and provide a professional and responsive service to staff, students and families.

You will help ensure that systems are followed properly and that information reaches the right people at the right time.
This could involve introducing improved filing arrangements, streamlining administrative processes or helping colleagues manage deadlines more effectively.
You will also need to be confident identifying problems and suggesting solutions. If a process is unnecessarily complicated or a recurring administrative issue is causing difficulties, the school will value someone who can raise the issue constructively and help develop a better approach.
The successful candidate should therefore have more than basic administrative skills. You should have the confidence to take responsibility and make decisions within your area of expertise.

You will need to communicate confidently and courteously with parents and carers, including when dealing with questions or concerns that may require additional investigation.
You should be able to listen carefully, establish what is required and either resolve the query or ensure it reaches the appropriate member of staff.
You will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate visitor procedures and ensuring that visitors to the school are dealt with professionally and in line with school safeguarding procedures.
