Art & Design Teacher – Historic Secondary School in Bath (September Start)

A creative, highly regarded secondary school in Bath is seeking a talented Art & Design Teacher to inspire students across Key Stage 3, 4, and 5 for a permanent September start.

Job Overview

Celebrated for its arts provision and vibrant student exhibitions, this school is looking for an artist-educator capable of teaching fine art, printmaking, digital media, and photography across GCSE and A-Level. The successful candidate will play a central role in guiding students through concept development, technical execution, and portfolio curation.

Working closely with the Art department, you will deliver a rich curriculum that combines traditional techniques with modern visual media. This is a full-time, permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach high-quality Art & Design lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level)

  • Plan, resource, and execute engaging practical units covering drawing, painting, 3D design, printmaking, and digital media

  • Guide Sixth Form students through portfolio preparation for entry into art foundation programs and university creative degrees

  • Organize, curate, and host annual end-of-year art exhibitions and gallery showcases

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in art studios, managing materials and equipment safely

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

  • Honors degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Art History, or a closely related discipline

  • Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE and A-Level Art outcomes

  • Exceptional personal artistic portfolio and mastery of diverse visual media techniques
