Mathematics Teacher
You would be joining a successful Mathematics department within an Outstanding School where students are encouraged to become confident problem-solvers and develop a secure understanding of mathematical concepts.
The department delivers a carefully structured curriculum that allows students to build their knowledge progressively. At Key Stage 3, students develop strong foundations across number, algebra, geometry, statistics and ratio while being encouraged to explain their reasoning and approach problems in different ways.
At GCSE, students are challenged to apply their mathematical knowledge to increasingly complex problems. The curriculum develops fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills across areas including algebra, graphs, geometry, probability, statistics, number and proportional reasoning.
For students studying Mathematics at A-Level, the department provides an academically challenging programme covering pure mathematics alongside mechanics and/or statistics. Students are encouraged to work independently, develop logical arguments and prepare for the demands of further mathematical study.
The department has a strong culture of collaboration. Teachers regularly share resources, discuss student progress and work together to identify effective strategies for supporting students who require additional intervention while ensuring high-achieving students are suitably challenged.
There are also opportunities to contribute to Mathematics enrichment, including problem-solving clubs, competitions, mentoring and university preparation. The successful teacher will be encouraged to share their own enthusiasm for Mathematics and help students see the subject as something much broader than examination preparation.
The School provides excellent CPD, an established ECT programme and opportunities for teachers to take on wider responsibilities. Experienced teachers may contribute to curriculum development, intervention programmes and departmental initiatives.
