Job Overview
This well-equipped school boasts modern workshop spaces, traditional toolsets, and cutting-edge digital fabrication machinery. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering dynamic DT lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering Resistant Materials, Product Design, and CAD/CAM software.
Working closely with the Design & Technology team, you will guide pupils through the full design process—from initial sketch concepts and 3D modeling to practical prototyping and evaluation. This is a full-time, permanent role suited to a practical, highly organized, and proactive educator.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging practical and theoretical Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE / Vocational)
Oversee workshop health and safety, machinery maintenance, materials storage, and strict COSHH compliance
Train students in the safe operation of hand tools, machinery, and digital tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers
Assess, track, and report on pupil progress, preparing Key Stage 4 students for practical non-exam assessments (NEA) and written exams
Support extra-curricular design challenges, open workshop drop-ins, and local design competitions
Serve as a Form Tutor, contributing to the pastoral care, tracking, and wellbeing of your assigned year group
Maintain inventory levels of timber, metals, plastics, and safety equipment in coordination with department technicians
Support the smooth day-to-day running of the Design & Technology department

Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will feature:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
An honors degree in Design & Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, or Engineering
Valid certification for machine safety and secondary school workshop machinery operation
Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM packages (e.g., 2D Design, Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
Excellent classroom management and practical workshop supervision skills
A proactive, creative, and safety-conscious approach to teaching
