Computer Science Teacher
You would be joining an established Computing department that is focused on developing students' understanding of programming, computational thinking and the wider impact of technology. The department provides a structured curriculum that allows students to build their knowledge progressively from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE and, where appropriate, A-Level.
At Key Stage 3, students develop their understanding of algorithms, programming, computer systems, data representation and online safety. Lessons are designed to give students practical experience while building the logical and problem-solving skills required for more advanced study.
At GCSE, students develop their knowledge of programming, algorithms, networks, cybersecurity, databases and computer systems. Students are encouraged to write, test and improve their own code while learning how theoretical concepts apply to real-world technology.
For A-Level students, the department provides more challenging opportunities to explore programming, data structures, algorithms and computer architecture. The course prepares students well for university courses and future careers in software development, engineering, data science and other technology-related fields.
The department also encourages students to participate in coding clubs, STEM competitions, programming challenges and wider technology projects. The successful teacher will be encouraged to contribute their own ideas to the department and help develop extracurricular opportunities.
You will work alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive environment where resources, planning and good practice are shared. The school provides regular CPD, mentoring and opportunities for additional responsibility and career progression.
