Site Supervisor
A welcoming Primary School in Gloucestershire is looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Site Supervisor to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in maintaining a school site and understands the importance of providing children, staff and visitors with a safe, secure and well-maintained environment.
You will work closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day condition of the school's buildings and grounds. You will complete regular inspections, respond to maintenance requests and deal with minor repairs before issues become more significant.
The role will involve coordinating contractors, monitoring maintenance work and ensuring external professionals follow the school's site and safeguarding procedures. You will also assist with planned preventative maintenance and maintain appropriate records relating to repairs, inspections and servicing.
A key part of the position will be ensuring the school is prepared for the day. This will include opening the site, checking classrooms and communal areas, ensuring access routes are clear and responding to any issues identified before pupils arrive.
You will also support the school with assemblies, parents' evenings, performances, meetings and other events by preparing rooms, moving furniture and ensuring facilities are ready for use.

Site Supervisor - Responsibilities
Complete daily inspections of buildings and grounds
Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance
Identify and report larger maintenance requirements
Support planned preventative maintenance programmes
Coordinate and monitor contractors
Ensure contractors follow site procedures
Assist with health and safety checks
Monitor fire safety equipment and emergency procedures
Check doors, gates, windows and access points
Assist with opening and securing the school
Manage deliveries and contractor access
Prepare rooms for assemblies and school events
Move furniture and equipment when required
Monitor outdoor areas and playgrounds
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Respond promptly to staff requests
Report hazards and defects appropriately
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently and using their own initiative while communicating effectively with colleagues.
Site Supervisor - Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous Site Supervisor, Caretaker, Maintenance or Facilities experience
Good practical maintenance and repair skills
Understanding of basic health and safety procedures
Ability to identify potential hazards
Strong organisational skills
Good communication abilities
Ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Reliable and flexible approach
Professional attitude
Commitment to maintaining a safe environment
Previous school experience would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant facilities, property maintenance or trade experience will also be considered.
Working Environment
The role is varied and practical, meaning you will be involved in different aspects of the school site throughout the day.
You may begin the morning carrying out site checks, spend part of the day dealing with maintenance requests and later prepare a hall for a school event. The school is looking for someone who is willing to get involved and takes ownership of keeping the site running effectively.
